Chinese New Year - The Year Of The Pig 2019

The year of the Pig gets underway on Tuesday 05th, 2019, which is pretty handy seeing as out pub is called the Flying Pig!

So it’s no surprise we’ve decided to join in with the fun and celebrate all things PIG… our chefs have created a very special Chinese New Year Menu click here and take a look.

To get you up to speed here are some hints and tips to help you celebrate with us too…

Men born in the Pig year are optimistic and gentle. They are very focused. Once they decide on a goal, they’ll put everything into it.

Women born in the Pig year are full of excitement. They attend social events whenever possible and treat everyone genuinely. Combined with their easygoing personality, they gain everyone’s trust.

In Chinese tradition, many foods served during New Year are associated with wisdom or have a special symbolic meaning.

The date of Chinese New Year changes every year, but always falls between the end of January and mid-February.

Celebrations last for 15 days until the Lantern Festival, with over a sixth of the world’s people celebrating each year!

Chinese New Year is officially the world’s longest public holiday… and it’s the largest annual fireworks display on earth!
